While Minecraft updates tend to move at a snail’s pace, every so often, Minecraft releases a preview of their next update, and we’re always on the edge of our seats. The 24w04a snapshot looks to be one of the best we’ve had in a while, and it is sure to make your best Minecraft maps even more exciting to play!
We can’t wait to tell you exactly what Minecraft 24w04a looks set to bring to the table.
Bug Fixes
As with all snapshots for Minecraft, we’re seeing some big changes on the bug fixes front. While Mojang haven’t explicitly stated which fixes have been pushed out, we can assure you that the game runs a lot smoother. Use your Minecraft account to test it out!
Changes to Armadillo Behavior
Armadillos were one of the strangest animal additions to Minecraft, but Minecraft players seemed to love them, and it looks like they’re getting a few updates.
With the latest snapshot, if an armadillo detects a threatening player (i.e. one that has recently attacked them), or a mob, they’ll curl up in a small ball. This boosts their armor, and they should be invulnerable to weaker attacks.
Transfer Command
Dedicated server owners will love this feature! If you are an administrator on a dedicated server, you will be able to use the transfer command to switch between two servers. In fact, you can even move two players around. It should make the administration of the larger dedicated servers much easier.
Breezes
Breezes are still a mob concept that Mojang are playing about with. The latest snapshot will give them a few upgrades, including better targeting, mob conflicts, and more. Expect there to be more updates to breezes in future snapshots.
World Optimization
This may only end up applying to the Java version, since the Bedrock version of Minecraft has a slightly different code base. However, the current snapshot has added a few world optimizations, which make terrain generation much better, and the frame rate much more consistent. These are changes that Mojang have been trying to implement in every update to the game.
More Copper Grate Production
Just a small change here. Copper grates, which were launched in the 1.21 update, have had their crafting output boosted from 1 to 4. Nothing amazing, unless you plan on using a lot of copper grates on your best Minecraft maps.
When Will These Features Launch?
All these features are currently available if you download the Minecraft 24w04a snapshot, which you can do if you have a Minecraft account for the Java edition of the game. If you’re playing any other version of the game, e.g. console, phone, tablet, or Windows 10 version of the game, you’ll need to wait a bit longer. We reckon that it should be within a year.
